Carlisle Open Medals Meeting 25th March 2007

On a sunny but windy day in Carlisle’s Sheepmount Stadium (pictured)  five Blackpool Wyre and Fylde athletes came away with eight medals between them. Starting in only her 2nd competition in her new colours was U11Girl Katrina Kelly who was well placed in all three of her events. She ran 60m in 10.3 (5th), 150m in 25.2 (5th) and landed with a jump of 3.06m(PB) in the long jump to finish well.

In the U13 Girls Kassidy Knight came home with the pot of gold finishing first in all her events with times of 14.8 in the 100m, 30.2 for the 200m (PB) and another PB in the long jump with a distance of 4.33. The U15 Girls were lead home by Lucy Mansfield with a gold in the 200m (28.1) and silver for the 100m (13.8). Robyn Starkey had two good runs in the 100m and 200m with times of 14.3 and 30.2, finishing 5th in both, and with her last event of the day, Robyn secured a silver in the javelin with a throw of 13.45m (and a big smile).

Not wishing to be out done by her training partners, Katy Wyper finished the medal collection of by coming 3rd in both the 200m (28.5) and a long jump (4.33m) and only missed out in the 100m medals by 1/10 in a time of 14.2. Well done to all the girls.
