YAL Round 5 Sunday 19th
July 2009

Well, what a tense but enjoyable day we had at
At one stage we were equal first, then we dropped to third,
before rallying to final finish second to
Every athlete on the day gave their best but a special mention has to go to
U17W Natasha Butler, who struggles to run to the end of the street for a bus,
for her run in the 1500m where she won her section!!
The good news however is that BWFAC
has now qualified for the Aux Final on Saturday 5th September at the Alexander
Stadium in
I urge every athlete now to put their markers down in the remaining Mid-Lancs
and Open meetings to force their way into the team. You really don't want
to miss this event. We haven't been there for a while, and never as a joint
team and who knows when we will make it again.
I also implore the clubs' coaches to be understanding in team selection for the
event itself, we have to look at the team overall and not individually,
but I can promise we will consider all requests but they cannot be guaranteed,
and preference will be given to the best performing athletes in their
respective events and team benefits.
So, in preparation, can ALL athletes who have been part of the team thus far
please contact the Team Managers to confirm their availability at the soonest
opportunity. This does not mean however that selection is guaranteed as, like I
said, it's up to everyone to earn their place in the team from now on in.
Again, very well done, and looking forward to 5th September.
