Paintball Success for BWFAC Athletes

Sunday 10th October 2010 saw many of the club’s athletes enjoy a fun filled day out paintballing at Delta Force Yankeewood paintball centre near Chorley.

It was organised as a treat for the junior athletes and U20’s who have helped the club to achieve so much again this season. However it was the club’s biggest child, COACH GARRY ROYLANCE who seemed to be taking it the most serious, screaming, waving his gun in the air and repeatedly shooting the opposition even reducing small children to tears….HAHA.

Everyone had a great day which involved a series of “battles” against a team in various game zones. Through athletic prowess, organisation from General Jones and an ability to wipe away the paint before it was noticed they were shot, we never lost a game. You might say we were awesome, well ok WE WERE AWESOME.

Now the final battle against various other opposition made up of the other teams on the day. A game that has never been won before which looked like we wouldn’t be the first to do it either. The team, depleted by casualties, due to no money to buy more paint balls and a fear of gaining yet more bruises, carried on regardless to Total Annihilation.

We would have to advance, grab a flag, push on through enemy territory and lift the flag without being shot. We were up against M16 ASSAULT RIFLES, FLARES, SMOKE AND GRENADES, but again, General Jones came up with a plan.

Without giving away the tactics, we prevailed and became the first ever team to win the “Big Game” I think Dom Broughton has a future in the Marines!!

Battered, severely bruised, dirty and smelly the day came to an end with everyone having a really enjoyable experience, one that we hope to have again early next year.

The pain was worth it with Finn Walker, who nearly became Phyllis Walker, Alex Hastie’s continuous whinging, Jon Hails getting shot within 2 mins of every game, David, Jack and Ash storming forward like Rambo, all the girls screaming and hiding, Dom Garrett and Schoey sniping, Garry making the opposition cry, General Jones and Corporal Connor holding the opposition off and Omar drinking all the tea. And a Happy Birthday to young Master (Louis) Walker who was paired up with Jamie Bamber pot shotting everyone…..

A great finish to a great season…Well done everyone
