Sportshall Report

Sunday 14 February 2010 saw the third and final open Sportshall competition held at Stanley Park Sports Centre.

Over 40 BWFAC athletes took part in the competition and we were able to field our biggest team of the season with the main numbers making up the U11 Boys and Girls (19).

The U13 Boys and Girls as always were very strong but with some key athletes away they were on an uphill struggle.

We were as usual short on athletes for the U15 Boys and Girls with only 3 athletes in each class but these athletes still managed to finish second overall even with the limited numbers.

The event was action filled and all athletes gave super performances as we tried to take the final competition from Preston but again we were close runners up, finishing second on the day and second overall from the three competitions.

I would like to praise all the athletes who competed for the club and hope you will all continue to supply Sportshall activities in the future.

Look out for future information for the coming season.

Special thanks to all parents who helped with the competitions and to Kim White, Jamie Thomson, Charlie Garrett and Trish Jones.

Results

The final scores for the individual age groups decided who would be selected for the national final; although Cheshire were the overall favourite Lancashire succeeded in getting the U13 Boys and U15 Boys teams through to the final with the U15 Girls coming a close second and may be selected as closest runner up.
